The Artist

ABOUT
THIS PAINTING:
The Birth of Venus an original oil on canvas 173 x 279 cm
(68 x 110 inches) (c.2003) after an original tempera on canvas 173 x 279 cm (68
x 110 inches) by Sandro Botticelli (c.1495).
I painted an exact reproduction of Botticelli's Birth
of Venus after taking multiple trips to the Uffizi Museum in Florence,
Italy to study the original painting and to verify colors and dimensions. I stood too close to Botticelli's painting and set off the alarm. The Museum guards were very upset with me.
Limited Editions of my work are available under the Category "Venus" on this web-site.
ABOUT THE
ARTIST:
DAVID MICHAEL ARRIGONI is an artist and a first
generation American, whose family emigrated from beautiful Lucca. Italy, near
Firenze (Florence), where magnificent art has flourished through centuries.
David's father, grandmother, and great grandfather were artists. At an early
age, David demonstrated his innate ability to create impressive works of art.
Under the instruction and influence of his artist father, Eduardo Angelo
Arrigoni, David gained insight into Italian painting style and techniques, and
developed a compelling need to study the styles of the 'old masters' in
European art museums—eventually replicating their works. David's continued
research and study of methods and materials, past and present, contribute to
his style today. He creates both
traditional, abstract and contemporary work. David's artwork is an emotional experience
that he shares with his patrons and collectors.
