The Birth of Venus—According to ancient belief, Venus was born in the sea, already beautiful, and floated to the
shore of
Cyprus on a scallop shell. Renaissance artist, Sandro Botticelli, painted this scene in the year 1485 using tempera/pigment on canvas. His original painting 173 x 279 cm (68 x 110 inches) is on display in the
Uffizi
Museum, Firenze (
Florence)
Italy. It is not for sale at any price.
After studying Sandro Botticelli’s original masterpiece over a period of 7-years, I decided to paint it using modern oil/pigment on modern canvas. My facsimile, completed in 2003, is the same size as the original: 173 x 279 cm (68 x 110 inches). This painting is displayed in my piano room.
This one-at-a-time reproduction consist of pigment in aqueous solution applied on artist canvas. The artwork is 40”x 64”, with an overall gold frame dimension of 48”x 72”. The Artwork is shipped via truck or can be picked up at the Arrigoni Art Studio in
Fresno,
California by appointment.
